The examiners declare that the next phase is to test their culinary skills, much to the candidates' disbelief. The test requires pork, so the candidates are sent to find pigs in the forest. However, the pigs living in the forest are carnivorous and attack the candidates. Thanks to Gon, they discover the pigs' weakness and manage to each obtain one for cooking. After tasting the candidates' dishes, Buhara gives them a passing score, but Menchi fails them all. Knowing that the candidates will cause a scene, Satotz informs President Netero of the Hunter Exam Selection Committee to appear. Netero arrives to correct Menchi's bias when it comes to cooking. Netero allows Menchi to remain as an examiner, and she gives the candidates a new test: to boil the eggs laid by the spider eagles on the Split Mountain.
