In a memory from their third year of high school, Linda tells Banri that she found out her brother's fiancée was having an affair and asks him to help her expose it. When the two photograph the affair, Linda changes her mind and deletes all the photos, instead confronting her brother's fiancée and telling her that she will keep the secret, but it must never happen again. After that, Banri vehemently expresses his disapproval of her decision, but apologizes when he sees how troubled she is by her own lie. Banri comforts Linda by telling her that she is not alone and that he will carry the lie he knows alongside her, and that he will always find her and be there for her, but he fails to reassure her when she asks. In the present, Banri and Linda meet and talk, where Banri mentions that Kōko is sick again, while Linda talks about her family and brother. When Banri indicates that he doesn't remember her having a brother, a sad Linda leaves, but not before using the words he once used to comfort her in the past to encourage him to be there for Kōko. Banri's spirit, who witnessed this, regrets not confessing his true feelings for Linda at the moment she sought reassurance from him and realizes that it is too late for them. However, the next morning, Banri's spirit wakes up and discovers that he has returned to his physical body.
